◻︎GAY VIDEO OF THE WEEK
This week I conclude a brief series that has looked at religion and LGBT issues. Today’s final installment focuses on a new look at scripture as it concerns homosexuality and LGBT issues overall.
This TED Talk expands on last week’s analysis of Romans 1 and looks more broadly at the Bible as a whole, taken in its full literary and historical context. The speakers assert that the Bible, when taken in context, does not condemn homosexuality and LGBT people as is widely believed. Nor does it have a hidden Gay Agenda either. It simply has no agenda where LGBT issues are concerned.
The speakers examine the story of Sodom and Gomorrah as described in different books throughout the Bible, the Book of Acts, and Paul’s Letter to the Galatians.
Presenting this talks are the Rev. Kristin Saylor and Jim O’Hanlon. The YouTube description provides brief biographies.
Kristin Saylor is an Episcopal priest currently serving St. Peter’s Church in Port Chester, NY. Originally from Wisconsin, she is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Virginia Theological Seminary.
Jim O’Hanlon has been a Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America since 2000, of St. Paul’s Church in Rye Brook since 2010.
